Today I’m reviewing the
MASMARULEZ Mini Ribbon Pocket Backpack.

Back in high school,
I carried textbooks and workbooks
around in a backpack all the time.

Then in college,
I had to carry a heavy gaming laptop,
so I ended up using backpacks
even more often.

By the time I graduated,
I was so tired of backpacks
that I got rid of almost all of mine.

But…

after using crossbody bags
and shoulder bags for a while,
I started noticing their limitations.

They can get uncomfortable,
especially when I’m traveling
or carrying something heavy
like a laptop.

I do have another backpack
that I use for trips,

but it has a lot of pockets,
keychains,
and extra features,

so the bag itself is a little heavy
for everyday use.

I wanted something
much lighter and simpler.

I was also looking at
some Montbell backpacks,

but I want to check those out
in person when I visit Japan.

So I started looking
for a lightweight everyday backpack
that I could ask for
as a birthday gift.

That’s when I found the

It looked almost exactly
like what I was looking for,

so I asked my friend
to get it for me
as a birthday present.

So this isn’t exactly
a “bought it with my own money” review.

It was bought by my friend!

The backpack is available
in a total of seven colors:

• Cream Lemon
• Black
• Light Gray
• Fog Blue
• Fog Green
• Fog Pink
• Beige

Honestly,
all of the colors are really nice.

But I chose Black.

Whenever I buy bags like this,
I usually end up choosing
a color that goes well
with almost everything

and doesn’t stand out too much.

Black also has the advantage
of not showing dirt
as easily as lighter colors.

So in the end,
I went with the safest option.

If I had to choose
another color, though,

I would probably pick
Beige or Light Gray.

Another nice detail is that
the logo color changes
depending on the color
of the backpack.

It’s a small touch,
but I think it adds
to the overall design.

Ribbon Detail

As you can probably guess
from the product name,

the backpack has
a ribbon detail on the front.

The ribbon comes tied,

but you can untie it
and reshape it
however you like.

You can also remove it completely.

So if you prefer
a cleaner and simpler look,
you can just use the backpack
without the ribbon.

Drawstring and Magnetic Closure

The front opening
can be adjusted
with a drawstring.

At first,
I thought the drawstring
was the only thing
holding the bag closed.

But there’s actually
a magnetic closure inside as well.

That means
you don’t have to pull
the drawstring extremely tight
every time.

The magnet helps
keep the opening closed,

so you can adjust
the drawstring more for appearance
than for security.

Adjustable Shoulder Straps

The shoulder straps
are easy to adjust
using the strap hardware
on the back.

The overall design
is very simple,

and since the backpack itself
is so lightweight,
it’s comfortable
for everyday use.

Storage Space and 13-Inch Laptop Fit

The backpack is divided
into roughly three main compartments.

It’s large enough
to carry a tablet
or laptop up to around 13 inches.

I tested it with
my M1 MacBook Air,

and it fits
even with a protective case on it.

It’s not extremely roomy
with the case attached,

so I do have to
slightly adjust the corners
when closing the bag.

But it still fits,
which is good enough for me.

One of the main reasons
I wanted this backpack

was to have something
lightweight
that could still carry my laptop.

So being able to fit
my MacBook Air inside
was a big plus.

Carrying a laptop
in a one-shoulder bag
has become a little too tiring for me.

Lightweight at Only 278g

One of the biggest advantages

is definitely its weight.

The backpack weighs only 278g,
which is under 300g.

You can really feel the difference
when carrying it.

Because the bag itself
adds almost no extra weight,

even after putting
a laptop and other items inside,

it still feels lighter
than many regular backpacks.

The material also offers
basic water resistance,

which makes it practical
for everyday use.

Keychain Attachment

There is also
a dedicated spot
where you can attach a keychain.

Since decorating bags
with keychains has become
pretty popular,

I like that there’s already
a convenient place
to attach one

without adding
another ring or accessory.

What I Liked After Using It

After carrying it around
for a while,

the lightweight design
is definitely
the biggest advantage for me.

When a backpack
is already heavy on its own,

adding even a few items
can make the total weight
increase very quickly.

Since this one
starts at only 278g,

it stays relatively comfortable
even with my laptop inside.

My M1 MacBook Air fits,

the design isn’t too bulky,

and it works well
both as a laptop bag
and as a casual everyday backpack.

Things to Keep in Mind

Of course,
making the backpack this lightweight
does come with a few trade-offs.

First,
the shoulder straps
don’t have thick padding.

If you’re expecting
the kind of cushioning
you would get from
a dedicated laptop backpack,

this isn’t really
that type of bag.

There also isn’t
much protective padding
at the bottom.

So if you’re carrying
a laptop or tablet,

I wouldn’t recommend
dropping the backpack
onto the floor.

If you carry a laptop frequently,
using a separate laptop sleeve
inside the backpack
would probably be a good idea.

is a good option
if you’re looking for something that is

lightweight,
simple in design,
and large enough
to carry a 13-inch laptop.

The 278g weight
makes a noticeable difference
in everyday use.

It’s not a heavily padded
laptop backpack,

and it doesn’t offer
much protection
around the shoulder straps
or bottom of the bag.

But considering
the price,
design,
storage space,
and portability,

I’m very satisfied
with the overall balance.
