I have quite a few
favorite characters,

and if you’ve seen
some of my other posts,

you may already know
that I really like Chiikawa too.

My two favorites are
Usagi and Momonga.

They’re both
way too cute.

The problem is that
when official merchandise
comes out,

Momonga is often assigned
a purple color scheme

because the light blue
is usually associated
with Hachiware.

And unfortunately,
I’m not really
a purple person.

Usagi, on the other hand,
usually comes in yellow,

which happens to be
one of my favorite colors.

So I tend to buy
Usagi merchandise
more often.

Then one day,
I saw a new
Chiikawa Boston bag
on Instagram.

And this one immediately
caught my attention.

From a distance,
it just looks like
a regular Boston bag.

But once you look closer,

there are cute
Chiikawa details
hidden everywhere.

There was also
a Momonga version,

but again…

purple.

So naturally,
I chose Usagi.

Buying the SHOBIDO Chiikawa Usagi Boston Bag

Unfortunately,
the bag was already sold out
on the official website.

So my friend and I
ordered directly from Japan

through the SHOBIDO store
on Amazon Japan.

My friend bought
the larger school bag
from the same collection,

while I chose
the Boston bag.

It was already
selling out in Japan,

and there weren’t
many reviews available either.

But with the favorable
exchange rate at the time

and a design like this…

there was no way
I was going to skip it.

I paid roughly
70,000 KRW
for the bag itself,

with international shipping
charged separately.

Dark Brown Color

I usually choose
black bags.

They’re easy to match
with almost anything,

and they’re practical
for everyday use.

But after owning
so many black bags,

they can start
to feel a little repetitive.

This Usagi Boston bag
isn’t completely black.

It has a
very dark brown tone,

which gives it
a slightly warmer look.

I think it’ll be
especially nice
for fall outfits.

Looks Like a Regular Boston Bag From a Distance

This is probably
my favorite thing
about the bag.

From a distance,

it really does
just look like
a normal Boston bag.

The size is also
right in the middle.

It’s not huge,

but it’s definitely
not a tiny bag either.

So it’s easy
to use as an
everyday bag.

But then…

you look at the top
and notice
Usagi’s ears.

That tiny detail
is ridiculously cute.

The overall design
stays relatively simple,

while the character elements
are only noticeable
when you look closely.

If you like
character merchandise

but don’t necessarily want
a giant character face
on your everyday bag,

this design works
really well.

Slightly Glossy Finish

The back of the bag
is very simple.

The material isn’t
completely matte.

It has a
slightly glossy finish.

I used lighting
while taking the photos,

so it probably looks
shinier in pictures
than it does in person.

In real life,

it’s not overly glossy,

but it’s definitely
not a matte finish either.

Cute Usagi Logo Detail

There’s also
a small Usagi logo
on the front.

Instead of using
a huge character print,

the design uses
a small embroidered-style detail.

That keeps the bag
looking fairly subtle.

If someone doesn’t know
Chiikawa,

they may just think
it’s a cute design.

But Chiikawa fans
will probably recognize
Usagi immediately.

Two Magnetic Front Pockets

There are
two pockets
on the front.

Both open and close
with magnets,

so they’re convenient
for storing
small items
you want easy access to.

And then comes
one of the best parts.

When you open
the pockets…

there’s Usagi inside.

The outside
looks fairly understated,

but the more
you open the bag,

the more character details
start appearing.

I absolutely love
that kind of design.

The Inside Is Full of Usagi

When the bag
first arrives,

there’s paper stuffed
inside to help
maintain its shape.

Once you remove it,

you can finally see
the interior properly.

And the inside is
covered in Usagi patterns.

This is where
the bag becomes
completely different
from the outside.

From the exterior,

you mostly see
a small Usagi logo
and the ears.

But once you open it,

there are Usagis
everywhere.

For me,
that’s probably
the biggest charm
of this bag.

You can carry
a relatively subtle bag
on the outside,

while enjoying
all the character details
on the inside.

Interior Pockets and Storage

There are also
around two
small interior pockets.

They look useful
for things like:

• Lip products
• Compact mirrors
• Earbuds
• Other small accessories

The Boston bag
isn’t extremely large,

but it isn’t small either.

I tend to carry
quite a lot of stuff,

so I was happy
with the amount
of storage space.

It feels practical enough
for regular everyday use.

Why It Works as a Subtle Character Bag

One of the main reasons
I wanted this bag
was the design.

Even if you love
Chiikawa merchandise,

a bag with
a huge character print
can sometimes be difficult
to coordinate
with everyday outfits.

This one is different.

From the outside,

it’s mostly
a dark brown Boston bag.

The character details
are limited to:

• Usagi ears
• Small front logo
• Hidden details inside the front pockets
• Full Usagi interior pattern

So if someone
doesn’t know Chiikawa,

it just looks like
a slightly playful
Boston bag.

But if you’re a fan,

you get to enjoy
all the hidden details.

Personally,
I really like
character merchandise
designed this way.

The thing I like most
about the

is that it’s
actual character merchandise

while still being practical
enough to use
as an everyday bag.

My favorite features are:

• Usagi-patterned interior
• Practical storage space
• Classic Boston bag shape

If you prefer
character merchandise
that doesn’t look
too obvious,

this is a really
good balance.

For me,
the Usagi pattern
inside the bag
is probably
the best part.

It stays quiet
and subtle
on the outside,

and then suddenly
there are Usagis everywhere
when you open it.

That’s exactly
what makes this bag
so cute.

I’m planning
to carry it
a lot this fall,

and hopefully
take some photos
with Usagi too.
